The award is an offshoot of the Humanitarians of Africa initiative, where we have been showcasing African nonprofit founders doing great work. We are bringing much-needed visibility to Africa’s unsung heroes and problem solvers in the nonprofit sector.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


  • SDG Focus: Clearly articulate and provide evidence on how their work contributes to specific SDGs, highlighting the goals, targets, or indicators that their initiatives address.
  • Residency or Operation in Africa: Nominees must either be residents of African countries or operate their humanitarian initiatives within Africa, demonstrating a direct impact on African communities.
  • Nonprofit Status or Social Impact Status: Nominees may include individuals, nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, or grassroots initiatives that are dedicated to addressing humanitarian challenges in Africa. Nominees should demonstrate a commitment to social impact and improving the well-being of communities, particularly those facing vulnerability or marginalization.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Nominees should showcase innovative approaches, strategies, or solutions that demonstrate creativity, ingenuity, and effectiveness in addressing humanitarian challenges. This could include the development or application of new technologies, novel methodologies, or unique partnerships to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Demonstration Of Impact and Sustainability: Nominees should demonstrate a measurable and sustainable impact on the communities they serve for at least 2 years. The impact should be clearly documented and supported by evidence, testimonials, or other relevant indicators.
